Winnipeg Jets Drew Stafford is attracting interest from a number of teams.

The Winnipeg Jets have a bright future thanks to a plethora of forwards. Their forward depth might help them net some assets at the 2017 NHL trade deadline. Drew Stafford will be a free agent after this season and the Jets are starting to get calls from teams interested in him.

Stafford would be a quality guy to add for forward depth. He’s a physical player capable of fitting in on any checking line. Stafford is also capable of adding some scoring. He’s known as a streak player, but when he’s hot, he can score in bunches. That’s got to be tempting for a number of contenders.

So far this season, Stafford has been mostly cold. He has just 12 points in 38 games. However, Stafford is just two seasons removed from being a 40 point scorer. Last season, he had 21 goals and 17 assists for 38 points. One of the issues with Stafford is his defense. He hasn’t been a positive plus-minus player since the 2011-12 NHL season. However, it’s worth noting Stafford has played for some pretty terrible teams since then.

In his career, he has 391 points in 706 games. Stafford has 179 career goals and 212 assists. His career high in goals is 31 while his career high in points is 52. Both of those totals came in the 2010-11 season when he played for the Buffalo Sabres.

Must Read: 1 player from each NHL team that should be traded

With forward depth being shallow at this trade deadline, Stafford’s likely going to be traded. Don’t expect his cost to be too much. A mid-round pick is probably the most any team will give up for him. However, if Winnipeg retains salary, they might be able to milk a second round pick out of him.
