Nick Mangold has spent his entire 11-year NFL career with the New York Jets, but that came to an end on Sunday.

The New York Jets were a laughingstock this past season, as they won only five games after nearly making the playoffs in 2015. On Sunday, the team released one of their best players, as center Nick Mangold was released after 11 seasons with the team. Mangold has no plans to retire, and at 33-years old, he still should have some good football left in him. It appears the Jets are in rebuilding mode.

One player who is staying put is Mario Addison, who agreed to a new deal with the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. Addison signed a three-year, $22.5 million dollar contract with the Panthers, as the team locked up one of the best pass rushers in the NFL. The Panthers had a disappointing season after making it to the Super Bowl the year before, but all signs point to them being back in contention in 2017.

The Baltimore Ravens selected Matt Elam in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft, and on Sunday, it appears that the two’s relationship will be coming to an end. Elam was charged with one count of cannabis possession, as well as one count of possession with intent to sell or deliver. Elam was also charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance, and finally, one count of reckless driving. The Ravens said on Sunday that Elam is not in their plans for the future.

Tom Coughlin is running the show down in Jacksonville, as he was named the team’s executive VP of football operations this offseason. While Blake Bortles has been the team’s starting quarterback the past few seasons, Coughlin will not commit to him being the guy in 2017. Bortles took a big step back in his progression this season, and with the Jags loaded with talent at the skills positions on offense, the time is now for them to solidify the quarterback position.

Finally, more quarterback news, though this is a player who hopes to play in the NFL one day. Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield has been a star on the gridiron for the Sooners, playing so well last season that he was a finalist for the Heisman Trophy. On Saturday, Mayfield was charged with public intoxication, fleeing, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest, and there has yet to be word from Oklahoma on further disciplinary action.
