Alex Ovechkin surprised a lot of Washington Capitals fans by delivering them Papa John’s Pizza.

Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin is known for putting the bread in the basket. Since joining the NHL after the 2004 lockout, nobody has scored more goals than him. Ovechkin has 552 goals in his career. With 27 goals this season, he’s on pace to hit the 30 goal plateau for the 12th consecutive season. However, the Capitals captain took his talents off the ice. Ovechkin took his talents to Papa John’s to deliver pizza.

Capitals fans have some pretty priceless reactions to seeing him delivering pizza. Ovechkin does a lot of things with Papa John’s, including running a special that donates money to his charity. He’s known for what he does on the ice, but he also does a lot of great things off of it. Ovechkin’s also a guy who, as you can see, enjoys having fun. He’s never afraid to step into the spotlight and he takes joy out of delivering pizza.

While Ovechkin delivers during the regular season, he has yet to win a Stanley Cup. The Capitals haven’t made the Stanley Cup Finals since the 1997-98 season when the Detroit Red Wings swept them. However, it’s hard to blame Ovechkin for his playoff failures. He produces in the postseason at roughly a point per game pace. Ovechkin has more goals per game and points per game in the Stanley Cup playoffs than a lot of legends.

The issue has always been the team around him. This year, it seems to be different. Even with Ovechkin having a down year by his lofty standards, the Capitals own the best record in the NHL. Thanks to a suffocating defense, phenomenal goaltending, and a deep group of forwards, maybe this is the year Ovechkin will deliver a Stanley Cup to the nation’s capitol.
