Myles Garrett is widely considered the best player in this year’s draft, and his work in drills at the NFL Combine has solidified that.

Myles Garrett measured physically as everything NFL teams seek in a pass rusher at the NFL Combine, so his showing in what are essentially track and field drills on Sunday were going to be watched closely.

A 4.64 40-yard dash time, 33 bench press reps (at 225 pounds) and a 10-foot-8-inch broad jump clearly showed Garrett’s unique combination of traits, and further proved his widely regarded status as the top player in the 2017 draft class and a no-brainer No. 1 overall pick.

The vertical jump is another avenue to players to show their athleticism during on-field drills. Perhaps more than any other drill, it’s the one that showcases lower body strength and explosion. At least to the degree (as with anything else at the combine) it can be valued as it relates to playing football.

As expected, Garrett showed of a nice vertical for a man of any size, let alone one that weighs 272 pounds.

A 41-inch vertical is simply unreal, and ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay was also clearly impressed.

If they didn’t already do it, the Cleveland Browns should now have a draft card written out with Garrett’s name on it to submit for the No 1 overall pick on the night of April 27. Any other way, barring an unexpected trade that just can’t be refused, would be inexplicable. But we are talking about the Browns here, even with fairly new people in the front office and at head coach, and their dismal run since re-joining the NFL in 1999 can’t be ignored.
