The Kansas City Chiefs are reportedly signing Bennie Logan to a one-year deal, effectively replacing Dontari Poe at the nose in their 3-4 defense.

Kansas City is very tight on cap space this year, but was able to replace one of their stars with another well-known name. On Monday, Jason Ashworth reported that the Chiefs and defensive tackle Bennie Logan agreed to terms on a one-year deal.

The signing gives Kansas City somebody to replace Poe with, who is likely leaving for a larger deal. Poe was a first-round pick back in 2011, and made two Pro Bowls in his five years with the Chiefs. Logan played his first four seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles. His best statistical year was in 2014, when he notched 57 tackles and 10 stuffs in 16 games.

With the Chiefs, Logan will likely move all over the line with a majority of his snaps being on the interior. Kansas City has plenty of quality players in its front, including Jaye Howard, Chris Jones, Allen Bailey and Rakeem Nunuez-Roches. Look for Logan to rotate in while primarily playing on first and second down.

Kansas City is trying to get over the proverbial hump, and Logan’s signing should give them help defending the run. Last year, Howard and Bailey were lost for the year at midseason, hurting that facet of the Chiefs’ game. In the Divisional round, Le’Veon Bell churned out 171 rushing yards in a game that sent Kansas City home, 18-16.
