After being fired as Washington basketball coach, here are three possible new jobs for Lorenzo Romar.

Markelle Fultz is likely to be one of the first picks in June’s NBA draft, but the Washington Huskies finished just 9-22 this season with a 2-16 record in the Pac-12. That also marked a sixth straight season without an NCAA Tournament bid for the Huskies, and head coach Lorenzo Romar was fired on Wednesday.

Over 15 seasons at Washington, Romar had a 298-196 record (.603 winning percentage), including six 20-plus win seasons, six NCAA Tournament berths and three runs to the Sweet 16 (2005, 2006, 2010).

Last season, with NBA first-round picks Marquese Chriss and Dejounte Murray on the team, Washington only reached the NIT and lost in the second round.

Romar should not struggle to find a new coaching job for next season, if he wants one. Here are three possible head coaching opportunities for the three-time Pac-12 Coach of the Year.

3. New York Knicks

The way things are going with the Knicks, Romar may be better off staying at the college level. But Jeff Hornacek may be one-and-done as head coach, Phil Jackson may not be long for his role as team president and a seemingly inevitable Carmelo Anthony trade could help reload the roster.

Romar coached some NBA talent over his time at Washington, so it could be an easier transition than might be expected. Percy Allen of the Seattle Times has suggested Romar landing as an assistant with the Los Angeles Clippers, if an NBA opportunity is what he prefers.
