An updated 2017 NCAA Tournament bracket with the Sweet 16 now set following the first weekend of March Madness

March Madness began with a whimper on Thursday and Friday as the 2017 NCAA Tournament was completely tame. Looking at the 2017 NCAA Tournament bracket, only six lower seeds advanced out of the First Round. So as the Second Round tipped off, many wondered if it would continue to be all chalk.

Luckily, that was far from the case. Friday claimed a number of high-seeded victims that were upset. The Villanova Wildcats, the overall No. 1 seed in the tourney, were the most shocking upset, falling to Wisconsin. Joining them on Friday, though, were the Florida State Seminoles as they were toppled by an 11-seed, Xavier.

The calamity continued on Sunday with the final eight contests of the Second Round. Teams like Oregon, Kentucky and North Carolina just barely survived their matchups on Sunday. Louisville and Duke, however, were not nearly as fortunate as they made a premature exit.

That now leaves us with the Sweet 16 where there should be some fascinating matchups. UCLA vs. Kentucky in a rematch is going to be great, and so too should be Kansas vs. Purdue, Gonzaga vs. West Virginia and North Carolina vs. Butler. What’s more, the Second Round showed us that the madness is here and we should expect anything.

With all 48 First and Second Round games complete, here’s a look at the updated 2017 NCAA Tournament bracket with the Sweet 16 set for next weekend:

Despite the upsets finally transpiring in the Round of 32, there are still three of the four No. 1 seeds in the tournament left. However, with the way this 2017 NCAA Tournament bracket has played out now, you have to wonder how long North Carolina, Kansas and Gonzaga will be able to last.
