Florida Gators reserve guard Chris Chiozza became a legend with one of the wildest buzzer-beaters in March Madness history to beat Wisconsin

The Florida Gators had to feel like they let one slip away going into overtime in the Sweet 16 on Friday night against the Wisconsin Badgers. A Zak Showalter game-tying 3-point attempt with 2.5 seconds left forced the extra frame after the Gators were up sizeably in the game. Then Wisconsin got out to a lead in overtime and it looked like it might all be over. Chris Chiozza and company had other plans.

After free throws and then a tremendous chase-down block by Canyon Barry left them down by only two points, Florida tied it up. But then Nigel Hayes took the ball for Wisconsin and was fouled on the shot attempt. That allowed him to sink both free throws in a clutch moment with four seconds on the clock, giving the Badgers a two-point lead.

The ensuing inbounds pass was to Chiozza, who caught it running full speed forward. He didn’t relent with his speed and jumped right before the 3-point line, his momentum carrying him forward still. He unleashed a one-handed runner that was anything but pretty in the form. What was beautiful (for Florida at least) was the result as it went right through the cylinder and through the net:

Holy. Cow.
