After trailing by 16 to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the NCAA Women’s Tournament, the Stanford Cardinal came back to earn a spot in the Final Four.

The road to Dallas in the NCAA Women’s Tournament saw quite the comeback on Sunday. As the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Stanford Cardinal battled in the Elite Eight, it appeared as if Notre Dame was well on their way to the Final Four.

With a 16-point lead in hand, the Irish looked in control. However, Brittany McPhee had other plans for the Cardinal as they chopped away at the lead. Her scoring high of 27 points was enough to get the Cardinal back in the game and give them the huge comeback victory.

With the win, Stanford is now going to the Final Four. They will await the winner of the Elite Eight Game between the Florida State Seminoles and South Carolina Gamecocks. The Seminoles will have their hands full with a South Carolina team coming off of a 42-point win.

The big game on the other side of the bracket is UConn and Oregon. The Huskies haven’t lost in 110 games and they are the team everyone is going to be watching. However, the Pac-12 will be represented well if the Ducks lose.

The Cardinal showed they have the mental stamina to be ready for any challenge. Coming back from a 16-point lead in the Elite Eight against a great team like Notre Dame proved they can get the job done no matter the circumstances.
