With the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal set to take place at WrestleMania once again, there are a few superstars who stand to benefit

In 2014 there was a new concept introduced for WrestleMania as the company headed into WrestleMania 30 in New Orleans. That concept would honor one of the greatest stars in the history of professional wrestling, as current superstars would compete in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal.

Unlike another annual battle royal-type match, the Royal Rumble, there is no guaranteed major title shot on the line. All you receive from winning the bout is a gigantic trophy with the likeness of Andre right on the top. Okay, so I guess you get a pretty kickass photo-op out of the deal, too. With only three years to base it off of, we really don’t know where the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal takes a superstar, as it seems to be used in different ways.

Cesaro won the inaugural one by famously hoisting Big Show up in a Herculean feat of strength and tossing him over the ropes. However, his “push” was completely botched from that point, and now I’d suspect that some people today may not even remember that he won it at all. Big Show returned the next year and won it — he’ll be participating this year again as well after Shaq bailed — which was more of a, “Hey, thanks for all you’ve done!” moment rather than something to catapult a huge push. And last year, Baron Corbin won it in his main roster debut inside AT&T Stadium, with really the first evidence coming to light that a win in the match could set the wheels in motion for bigger and better things down the road; Corbin has been so much fun to watch develop into a star on the SmackDown Live roster, and he’s earned himself an Intercontinental shot at WrestleMania this year.

Still, while we’re not all that certain what the purpose of the match really is other than something to get as many superstars as possible on the biggest card of the year, it still has major potential to benefit certain individuals in their own unique way.

5 – Mark Henry

I’ll keep this one short and sweet, as some fans probably think this is an absurd idea. But again, the second edition of the match was used to more or less give Big Show a “Thank You” moment, and the same can maybe be done for the World’s Strongest Man as well.

This could be the final year we see Henry compete in a WWE ring, and he has more than earned the moment of standing triumphant next to that trophy after going on an elimination spree. Showing respect for a no-doubt future Hall-of-Famer, the fans in Orlando would probably eat up the moment as well, showering Henry with chants of praise for what would be the final WrestleMania moment for the former Olympian.

Okay, now onto some younger members of the roster who stand to benefit from a win in “The ‘Dre.”
