New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge hit a 448-foot home run against the Chicago White Sox to increase their lead in the bottom of the fifth.

In the bottom of the fifth Wednesday night, Aaron Judge stepped to the plate and hit a 448-foot bomb to increase the New York Yankees’ lead over the Chicago White Sox, 8-1.

This solo shot came right on the heels of Starlin Castro’s three-run shot to go back-to-back off of Chicago’s Dylan Covey.

According to MLB’s Director of Baseball Research and Development, Daren Willman, the ball had an exit velocity of 116 miles per hour with a thirty-degree launch angle that settled halfway up into the left-field bleachers in Yankee Stadium.

This is Judge’s fifth home run of the season as the Yankees look to continue their hot start to the season as they are currently second in the AL East behind the Baltimore Orioles.

The storyline of the Yankees season was supposed to feature the development of Gary Sanchez, Aaron Judge, Greg Bird, and other top prospects that Brian Cashman received from his moves last season, not an eight-game winning streak.

This is one of the first times in a while that the main focus for the Yankees will be developing their young talent instead of spending big in free agency.

Senior baseball writer for ESPN, Keith Law, ranked the Yankees farm system as the second-best in the league behind the Atlanta Braves, which gives you an indication on which way this organization is trending.

As the Yankees look to continue to cut costs (wow that felt weird) and develop their young talent, it is only a matter of time before their top prospects reach the show and the Yankees spend big on complementary pieces to put themselves in the best position to compete for another title.
