Eric Thames continues his scorching start to the season, smashing two home runs to bring his total to 10 on the year

Eric Thames gave the Milwaukee Brewers the start they were looking for with a solo shot off of Cincinnati Reds’ Amir Garrett in the bottom of the first.

He went right back at it in his second at-bat with a two-run home run to left, his 10th of the season and the best in the MLB at this point in the season.

On Saturday, Thames was hitting .379 with a .463 on-base percentage, a .897 slugging percentage, and eight home runs to his name. While he could not have kept this pace up for an entire season, he has been a constant storyline these past few weeks.

After the Mariners granted Thames a release from their AAA team, he headed to Korea, where he played for the past three seasons, Thames earned the nickname “God” for his immense power that seemed to grow with every passing season.

During that time, Thames hit a total of 124 home runs, the most in the Korea Baseball Organization. At one point, he was hitting around .400 with 47 home runs and 140 RBI’s. It is obvious that the superior competition in the MLB has not affected Thames so far as he continues to slug it out with the best of them.

In Seattle, he struggled as an outfielder but has thrived in his new position at first base for the Brewers. Right now, Thames is on a very team-friendly, three-year $16 million dollar deal and is proving that he is worth every penny.

Credit needs to be given to the former assistant general manager of the Houston Astros, David Stearns, as he kept an eye on Eric Thames as he continued to mature as a player and snatched him up at just the right time to infuse his roster with some talent.
