Journeyman and current Toronto Blue Jay Chris Coghlan soared over St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina, scoring in the seventh inning. You have to see it to believe it.

We have all had these moments — moments when you cannot believe what you just saw. You witness something so unbelievable that you call everyone in the house, even those who you know will not appreciate the level of amazing whatever you are sharing with them really attains.

Or, we pretend to be a superhero, with super powers. Most of the time, that involves flying like Superman. We zoom around our yard as if we were the mighty Man of Steel. When the world of super hero and sports collide, amazing things happen.

Tonight in St. Louis, the Blue Jays’ Chris Coghlan briefly morphed into a superhero.

Let that just soak in for a moment. Chris Coghlan, a journeyman outfielder that now plays for the Toronto Blue Jays, went “Superman” over St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina. Coming in as a pinch hitter in the top of the seventh inning, Coghlan walked. Kevin Pillar followed with a triple to right field, just out of reach of Stephen Biscotti’s glove.

Coghlan, who played with the World Series Champion Chicago Cubs in 2016, is not known for speed. Yet, he rounded third on Pillar’s hit; good throw to the plate would nail Coghlan, and it was a good throw. Coghlan would have been out by 8 feet. It would not be so.

Right where the grass is cut in front of the plate turned into a launching pad. Going horizontal, Coghlan avoided the throw and the tag. And Molina. He scored.

Someone check under his jersey, because I think we just found Superman.
