Russell Westbrook explained his side of his trash-talking encounter with Patrick Beverley of the Houston Rockets, insulting him in the process.

Russell Westbrook and Patrick Beverley got into a heated exchange during game five of their playoff series, and Westbrook explained what was said between them. Fair warning that it was NSFW:

Westbrook explained how Beverley was telling him that he was “first team all defense.” Westbrook scoffed at the remark and explained how he had 42 points at the time and didn’t know what he was talking about. Westbrook then bashed Beverley and explained how nobody on the Rockets was able to guard him during the series, and Beverley “must have been dreaming.”

Coming off a regular season in which Westbrook averaged a triple double, he did more of the same in the playoffs by averaging 37.4 points, 11.6 rebounds, and 10.8 assists during the series with the Rockets. Impressive numbers nonetheless and Beverley was his primary defender most of the time they shared the court together.

Westbrook’s response to the incident comes minutes after Beverley explained his version of the incident. Beverley did not mention what he said to Westbrook, but he did mention how Westbrook told him that he was unstoppable since had 40 points.

Although Westbrook clearly got the best of his mini feud with Beverley, the Thunder came up short and lost the series 4-1. He was certainly not to blame as he continuously carried his team by putting up ridiculous all around stat lines on a nightly bases. It was certainly a very interesting series to watch, as most of the games came down to the wire. Four of the five games during the series were decided by single digits.
