After crushing the Bulls in Game 6 in Chicago, the Celtics advanced to the second round to play the Wizards in the Conference Semifinals.

The Chicago Bulls may have given the Boston Celtics some early trouble in the first few games of the opening round, but the Celtics found the magic formula to pull out the next four games and advance to the second round.

Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards pulled off a 115-99 win over the Atlanta Hawks as the Celtics were blowing out the Bulls, and clinched a spot in the second round to play Boston.

The series will start on Sunday at the TD Garden at 1 p.m. on ABC.

The two teams have developed quite the rivalry over the last few years, and it was worsened at the beginning of the year in one of the team’s early meetings. In the team’s first game against each other, Washington’s John Wall clocked Marcus Smart in the backcourt and was ejected for the flagrant foul. Smart took exception to the foul, and both players had to be separated.

The drama continued when Smart and Washington’s Bradley Beal, who had his nose broken by Smart last season, exchanged words after a collision in January. The two teams have real heat between them, and at least four games between the two in a key playoff series will surely provide fireworks for everyone involved.

The two teams split their season series this year, with each team taking their respective home games. Homecourt will surely play a huge factor in this series, which bodes well for the Celtics as the top seed. However, the Celtics found themselves at the losing end of two of their three home games against Chicago, so they’ll need to take advantage of their home advantage.

Between the heated rivalry, and the equal talent between the two teams (both took their opening series in six games), this conference semifinals matchup will definitely be one to pay attention to.
