Paul Pierce scored the final points of his illustrious NBA career from the free-throw line today against the Utah Jazz.

Paul Pierce announced he would retire following this season in October of 2016, right before the season kicked off. Today, Pierce played in his final game with the LA Clippers against the Utah Jazz in game seven of their first round playoff matchup.

Pierce, now 39, has played in the NBA since 1998 when he was drafted by the Boston Celtics out of Kansas. Pierce spent 15 seasons in Boston, helping them win a championship in 2008, and plans to retire as a Celtic. He has spent the last three seasons with the Clippers where he hoped to help bring a title to L.A.

Pierce, also known as “The Truth,” played a minimal role for the Clippers this season, only averaging 11 minutes off the bench. However, during the playoff series with the Jazz, he has featured a little more. Unfortunately, the Jazz eliminated the Clippers and ended Pierce’s career at the same time. Today, he scored his last points as a player in the NBA.

Pierce’s last points came from the free-throw line with 2:32 left in the third quarter. The Jazz led by 16 at this point, and never looked back en route to a game seven victory. Pierce did not play much in the fourth quarter as Doc Rivers needed three-point shooters J.J. Reddick and Raymond Felton on the court.
