Chauncey Billups said that he would have “slammed” LeBron James if the King spun the ball in his face.

During Game 2 of the Toronto Raptors vs. Cleveland Cavaliers playoff series, LeBron James showed that he is enjoying this series (maybe a little too much) by doing schoolyard tricks. In the second quarter of the game on Wednesday, James, who was standing beyond the arc, spun the ball as if he was about to shoot a free throw, then shot and made a 3-pointer right in Serge Ibaka’s face.

Fans of the Cavaliers and of King James cheered with excitement and amazement. But former NBA star Chauncey Billups didn’t like the play and said on ESPN that he would have shoved James out of bounds if the play was pulled on him.

Per The Score:

"“If LeBron James would’ve (spun) that ball two times in front of me and shot that shot yesterday … I love Bron, but that would’ve been a flagrant-1,” the former NBA star said Thursday on ESPN. “I would’ve slammed that right out of bounds. Come on, man. It’s crazy, man.”"

Billups is an old school player with a 1990’s mentality. He’s all about physical basketball, where you push, hand check, and get right up into the opposing player’s face when you are on defense. He was also part of the Detroit Pistons’ Bad Boys (the second one with Ben Wallace, Rasheed Wallace, and Richard Hamilton), and they have a legacy for playing physical and aggressive basketball.

But can the Raptors be physical and aggressive on the court? Guess we’ll have to wait and see which version of them (a mean Raptor or nice Barney) they will summon when they meet the Cavaliers on Friday for a crucial Game 3 matchup.
