Russell Westbrook was put on this earth to ruin anyone and everyone on the basketball court and be petty. No longer allowed to shatter record books and destroy everything on the hardwood, Russ has some extra time to be petty.

Westbrook is, allegedly, promoting luggage. Maybe he’s trying to convince upcoming free agents to sign with Oklahoma City. Truthfully, he’s throwing more shade at Kevin Durant.

Following his decision to leave for Golden State, Durant did an interview with Bill Simmons where he said, “Nobody cares about what I want as a person. It’s all about what I can do on a basketball court. They don’t care if I like going fishing on Tuesdays or like taking pictures on the street. Nobody cares as long as I can shoot that ball into the hoop. Why should I care about what they think if they don’t really care about me as a whole?”

Feel free to skip to the 50-second mark of the commercial. Westbrook says, “these people care about us. Not just as basketball players. I think they care about us, as people.”

What’s that, Russell? Oklahoma City fans care about you as people? Are you sure? Are you 100 percent positive that they care if you go fishing on Tuesdays?

Along with throwing shade at Durant, this is confirmation to some that Westbrook will sign the super-max to stay in Oklahoma City. Those who aren’t convinced are still suffering from Post-Traumatic Kevin Disorder and will never be abe to accept that some don’t run.

Unless, we’re all wrong. That the commercial isn’t more cupcake throwing or free agent selling. It’s not even about committing to the Thunder. It’s nothing more than a Tumi luggage commercial. Westbrook travels a lot and Oklahoma City has been his home for the last nine years. He likes being home, but he needs luggage when he travels. Tumi makes luggage.

Maybe it’s just that simple and we should all stop freaking out about pettiness and loyalty. Durant and Westbrook are best friends. Russell is going to play where he wants and we should accept that and be happy for him. Basketball is just a sport that should have no bearing on our lives. These guys are just people who shoot a ball into a hoop. And they need high quality luggage. So, buy Tumi.
