Team Penske’s Will Power claimed another IndyCar pole position Friday and made history. Here are the complete qualifying results for the IndyCar Grand Prix.

It appears there’s no stopping Team Penske when it comes to Verizon IndyCar Series qualifying. Will Power captured his third pole position in five rounds on Friday, which also continued Penske’s sweep of Verizon P1 Awards in the 2017 season and gave the team its 250th pole position in history.

Penske drivers captured four of the top five qualifying spots for the IndyCar Grand Prix, and all five were within the top seven. Power set a new track record with a lap time of 01:07.7044, which was the second consecutive year he’s established an IMS track record in Grand Prix qualifying.

Helio Castroneves — who has the other two pole awards that Will Power didn’t snag — qualified second for tomorrow’s race, followed by Josef Newgarden and Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon.

Juan Pablo Montoya, who is returning to Team Penske for the month of May after departing his full-time ride in the offseason, qualified fifth.

Defending IndyCar Grand Prix race winner Simon Pagenaud, coming off his victory at the Phoenix Grand Prix and also a Team Penske driver, will start seventh in this year’s event.

Friday’s top 10 was rounded out by Andretti Autosport’s Ryan Hunter-Reay, his teammate Alexander Rossi (coming back to Indianapolis Motor Speedway for his first race since he captured last year’s Indianapolis 500) and Long Beach race winner James Hinchcliffe of Schmidt Peterson Motorsports.

But all eyes will start out on Will Power, who has yet to turn any of his three pole positions this year into race victories. In an IndyCar press release sent to FanSided after qualifying, the 2014 IndyCar champion said he’s “really determined to have a good race.

“I’ve been knocking on the door every week, and one is going to go our way here soon,” Power said. “You put yourself in that position, it’ll happen. That’s the plan.”
