Jinder Mahal did the unthinkable at WWE Backlash and defeated Randy Orton to win the WWE Championship. His Punjabi Celebration that followed on SmackDown Live on Tuesday night was beautiful and a work of art.

Jinder Mahal has been the most talked about topic in WWE today after defeating Randy Orton at WWE Backlash this past Sunday night and winning the WWE Championship in the main event.

Mahal was scheduled to hold a Punjabi Celebration to celebrate his title victory on SmackDown Live on Tuesday night and it didn’t disappoint.

Even before the celebration began in the arena, Mahal had an entrance worthy of a president as the show was just getting started on Tuesday night. With a police escort, Mahal exited the limousine with the WWE Championship draped over his shoulder.

As for the celebration itself, it was everything it needed to be … and then so much more.

When I say it might have been the greatest segment in SmackDown history, I mean it might actually be the greatest segment in the history of World Wrestling Entertainment. (It even had WrestleMania-like pyro at the end!)

Mahal’s rise to WWE Champion is one of the more improbable things that WWE has ever done. I mean, the guy seemingly got knocked out of a battle royal at WrestleMania 33 by Rob Gronkowski. He was a member of 3MB once upon a time. This wasn’t supposed to happen. But, it did and it’s fantastic.

The first title defense of the Maharaja will come at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view next month, as Randy Orton has already invoked his rematch clause and will get a shot at regaining the gold.

One can only hope that Mahal’s entrance on that night will be as good as the one from him and the Singh Brothers on Tuesday night.
