The Cavaliers showed no mercy in the first half of Game 5 against the Celtics, and Twitter was not happy about the unfolding blowout.

The Cleveland Cavaliers were dominant through the first two games of the Eastern Conference finals against the Boston Celtics, but faltered a bit in Games 3 and 4 at home. They showed in the first half of Game 5 that they weren’t playing around.

The Cavaliers put up a lot of points quickly to open up what is likely their last game before an NBA Finals rematch with the Golden State Warriors, and LeBron James showed that he’s back to being his usual self with a dominant first half. The Cavs put up a franchise record for most points in a quarter of a playoff game with 43, and that came with a minute still left to go in the quarter.

They found themselves up 43-27 after the first quarter, and went into the half with a 75-57 lead.

While Celtics fans have a right to be upset about their hometown team’s season ending on their own court, it’s likely best to just rip the bandaid off now and move on to the NBA Finals. No one expected the series to go this long, but it didn’t take away from some great reactions on social media for the blowout.

Here are some of the best Tweets from an otherwise lackluster first half between the Cavaliers and Celtics in Game 5:

While the Celtics have come back from big deficits before in this series, it doesn’t appear that the series will be advancing anymore past tonight. The Celtics have an important offseason ahead of them, including the first overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, so it may just be best to end it all now and get moving onto next year.

Meanwhile, it looks like we’ll all finally get our long-awaited NBA Finals matchup, and there shouldn’t be any big blowouts there (fingers crossed).
