Former Mexican National Team boss Miguel Herrera has been named the new manager of Club America in Liga MX.

This isn’t the first time that Miguel Herrera has been at the helm of Club America. Herrera was there as recently as 2013, which he then left to take over the Mexican National Team. After being fired from that position, he went back to Liga MX with Club Tijuana.

Herrera knows Liga MX very well, leading both Club America and Club Tijuana to successes in his respective times at each club. In his three seasons with Tijuana, Herrera led the club to two first-placed finishes in the regular season in the last two seasons.

Along with his success at Tijuana, Herrera also tasted multiple moments of success in his first stint with Club America. Herrera led Club America to two semifinals and two finals. He also won the 2013 Clausura title with Club America.

Herrera, while making a name for himself as being volatile and possibly crazy, has experienced a good deal of success in his three managerial positions in his home country. And with Club America finishing ninth in the table during the Clausura, they will be hoping that Herrera can bring the success he once had back to the storied Mexican side.

Herrera led Mexico to qualification for the 2014 World Cup during his tenure. Along with that he also won the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Herrera started his managerial career in 2002, two years after retiring from his playing career. He has managed Atlante, Monterrey, Veracruz, Estudiantes Tecos, Atlante again, Club America, the Mexican National Team, Club Tijuana, and now back to America for his second managerial stint.

Herrera also had a respectable professional playing career. While he never left Mexico during his playing career, he did make 380 appearances in his playing days, scoring 21 goals as a defender. Herrera also made 14 appearances for the Mexican National Team during his playing days.
