Spike Lee might be going into the sports reporting career, as he suggested Colin Kaepernick has signed with the Seattle Seahawks.

Colin Kaepernick still hasn’t found an NFL team yet, officially. The talented quarterback who has a lot of baggage hasn’t gotten a lot of interest for a variety of reasons. However, Spike Lee is reporting Kaepernick has signed with the Seattle Seahawks.

He announced it on his Instagram account, but he quickly deleted the picture. Lee is good friends with Kaepernick. The former San Francisco 49ers quarterback hasn’t been signed by a team yet. Two of the biggest reasons are his affinity with the zone read offense, which few NFL teams run, and the inevitable backlash teams would face for signing him. Kaepernick knelt during the National Anthem last season, which was a very unpopular decision. However, Kaepernick has promised to not kneel during the 2017 season.

Luckily, nothing is ever fully deleted from the internet, as several people grabbed a screenshot of Lee’s now non-existent post.

However, various media outlets are denying the report. Nothing is official yet, so this might be a situation similar to the one between Rob Lowe and Peyton Manning.

Kaepernick, for what it’s worth, would be an excellent fit for the Seahawks. Head coach Pete Carroll loves misfits as long as they have talent. Say what you want about Kaepernick, but you can’t deny he’s a very skilled quarterback. Seattle runs a hybrid zone read offense. Also, Russell Wilson has a similar playing style to Kaepernick. The former 49ers quarterback would be a strong fit in their offense should their starter go down.

His signing might be controversial, but it’s safe to say everyone is sick of hearing about how he doesn’t have a job yet. So in a way, even Kaepernick’s biggest critics are hoping Lee isn’t wrong.
