This strikeout from Minor League Baseball is the strangest thing you’ll see this weekend.

As we enter summer and the NBA and NHL wrap up their seasons, it’s time for baseball to flourish. Teams are hitting their strides, divisional races are heating up and trade rumors are aplenty.

But some in the minors are still trying to get a grasp on things. Friday’s clash between the Hartford Yard Goats and Binghamton Rumble Ponies (great names BTW) provided the weirdest strikeout you’ll ever see.

Something went awry with Rumble Ponies pitcher Cory Burns’ pitch and the ball went straight into the infield towards the first base line. Maybe he didn’t like the feel and decided to make it an obvious ball instead of a hittable pitch that could’ve hurt the team, it was a one-run game in the top of the eighth. Maybe he slipped. Maybe 50 Cent was his pitching coach.

Who knows.

But what we do know, it didn’t warrant a swing. Josh Fuentes of the Yard Goats swung at the pitch. Why!?! Was he joking, was it like a warm up swing between pitches in his mind? Either way, it was called a strike, the third.

The Yard Goats were never able to recover and the Rumble Ponies held on for the 5-4 win.

And fun fact, Fuentes is Nolan Arenado’s cousin.
