Day 2 of the 2017 French Open at Roland Garros is in the books. Here are the results of the women’s singles tournament from Monday, May 29.

The second day of the 2017 French Open at Roland Garros has concluded. While Day 2 of the women’s singles didn’t see another massive upset like No. 1 Angelique Kerber falling to Ekaterina Makarova, there we three ranked players upset on Monday in Paris.

The most notable player to fall at Roland Garros was No. 19 Coco Vandeweghe. She lost to Magdalena Rybarikova in straight sets. As for the top best players on the court today, No. 2 Karolina Pliskova and No. 4 Garbine Muguruza handled their business to advance to the Round of 64.

Pliskova topped Saisai Zheng in straight sets, 7-5, 6-2. She will face Ekaterina Alexandrova in round two. Muguruza is the defending women’s singles champion of the French Open. She defeated Francesa Schiavone in straight set, 6-2, 6-4. Muguraza will face Anett Kontaveit in round two.

With Kerber out of the mix, there is a great chance that Pliskova can win the 2017 French Open. It would not be shocking to see Muguruza win her second French Open in as many years. Let’s take a look at how at results from the women’s singles from Monday, May 29.
