The Warriors and the Cavaliers are battling for the third straight year in the NBA Finals, and there are plenty of reasons for this to become the greatest of all time.

After a year-long wait for the inevitable rematch, it’s finally time to dive into what should be the greatest NBA Finals ever between the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Sure, they’re not the two top seeds in their respective conferences, but these two teams proved over the last two months why they’re battling on the league’s biggest stage, all for another NBA Finals trophy. Casual fans are probably upset at the fact we’re seeing the same matchup for the third straight year, but we should be happy that we’re going to watch true greatness on the court in the third installment of this battle.

The storylines are endless, the talent is stacked all over the floor, and all the hype is there. It’ll be tough to top last year’s seven-game slugfest, but this year’s Finals provides plenty of fresh material and players.

The debate has already begun about whether this will be the greatest NBA Finals the league has ever seen, and the claws have surely come out from all angles. Now, it’s time to look at why round three between the Warriors and the Cavaliers could truly be the best Finals we’ve ever seen:

5. These two teams have been absolutely dominant in the playoffs

While some view this reason as being a negative, it should really be considered a strength.

The Cavaliers and the Warriors are both in the midst of the most incredible runs in NBA postseason history, and both have been on an absolute warpath towards each other since their last Finals matchup ended. Everyone saw this NBA Finals coming, and some say it’s not a good thing for these two dominant teams to be playing again.

However, this is literally history in the making. The Finals should feature the league’s best two teams, and this is an absolutely loaded matchup. The Warriors have swept all of their postseason opponents, and have only lost a single game in the last two months, ever since Klay Thompson signed that toaster. Meanwhile, the Cavaliers have suffered just a single loss in all of their postseason games, and bounced back quickly from it to dominate the Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals’ last two games.

These teams have a total of one loss between them entering the Finals, which accounts for the fewest losses ever for two teams entering the league’s biggest stage. While some say that’s not great for the league, fans have to look at the fact that they are witnessing history, and one of these dominant runs is going to have to end in this series.
