Far Cry 5 was announced in May. The first piece of gameplay premiered during Ubisoft’s E3 conference. All controversy aside, the game looks incredible.

After straying away from the formula with Far Cry: Primal, the Far Cry series seems to be going back to its roots with Far Cry 5. The reveal trailer back in May showcased something different for the series. Most of the previous games take place in a tropical and more exotic setting. Far Cry 5 will stake place Hope County, Montana. The world looks absolutely massive and there seems to be a ton of intriguing characters.

Before the gameplay footage, there was a ton of controversy about the game. Some say it’s going to deal heavily with religious fanaticism. Others say it’ll deal with political matters. We think people are going to far with these outlandish claims and should let the developers have complete freedom to craft the story they’re aiming for.

We aren’t saying we condone these themes, but we can’t say it won’t be interesting to play. The gameplay looks like a ton of fun and the story is very interesting. When you think of other games, BioShock: Infinite comes to mind. That’s one of the best games we’ve ever played. If Far Cry 5 is anything like it, then we’re in for a great time.

The gameplay is awesome. It’s a short demo but it showcases the huge world we’ll be exploring. In typical Far Cry fashion, there’s also plenty of action. Players seem to have the freedom to approach situations very differently. You can go all out and take out everybody in sight, or you can take a stealthy approach. It’s really up to you.

The characters also seem very likable, which is great.

Far Cry 5 launches on Feb. 27, 2018.
