The winding road of the NBA season hit it’s predicted conclusion with no hidden tricks or final twist. Adding Kevin Durant to the 73-win Warriors was indeed an unstoppable combination and now LeBron James and the rest of the league are scratching their heads trying to figure out what to do next.

As far as fans, many are lamenting  super-teams and having existential “What’s the point of it all?” debates . A “title-or-bust” philosophy seems especially hollow now in the face of the Golden State juggernaut. But that’s why the secret of the true NBA fanatic is adoring the journey of the season, not only being obsessed with whether or not the Finals are close.

And that’s what powers Fastbreak Breakfast NBA Podcast. Certainly if we can get a scintillating Finals showdown like 2013 or 2016 we prefer and cherish that, but it is by no means necessary. It’s the rigors of the regular season, the optimism of the draft, and day-dreaming about free agent moves that gives us fuel.

So while we do wrap up the Finals on our latest episode, we also are always looking towards the future. Because not every fan base gets to have multiple All-NBA players or a transcendent, generational talent. But we all get to watch our favorite teams have awesome highlights, such as plucky game-winners from Tyler Ulis or T.J. McConnell. And we all get to spend the summer scheming. So good job and all that Warriors. For the rest of us, the season starts again now.
