Before any punches are thrown, watch to see if any verbal jabs are exchanged between Adrien Broner and Mikey Garcia.

Boxing fans are already getting excited about the upcoming July 29 battle between Adrien “The Problem” Broner and Mikey Garcia. Now it’s time to see if having the two multiple-division world champions face to face will throw any more fuel on their competitive fires.

That’s going to happen for the first time today, June 19, in New York, as Showtime gets Broner and Garcia together for their first official press conference since the fight was announced. The two fighters will also head to Los Angeles for another presser later this week.

Happily, the NYC press conference is being streamed live on YouTube, and you can watch it right here live, beginning at 11:30 a.m., or archived once the presser is over:

Expect questions about weight to be front and center for both men with the bout set to be contested at 140 pounds. Broner has campaigned above the junior welterweight limit on several occasions, and has had trouble cutting to get back down to 140. Yet he’s undefeated in the division, suggesting that it may be the best place for him to ply his trade.

Garcia, on the other hand, is moving up to take this fight, having done most of his damage at featherweight and junior lightweight before capturing a 135-pound belt in his last outing in January. He’s displayed fearsome punching power at all stops in his career so far, but will 140 prove to be one step up too many for that to remain true?

As well, while Broner remained calm during the initial announcement period, he’s known to stir the pot with trash talk. Garcia doesn’t seem like the kind who’d just sit back and take any insults without returning fire, so it’s possible getting both men together will lead to some verbal fireworks.
