The first trailer for WWE 2K18 features the cover star, Seth Rollins, going through the archives and Stamford and decimating wrestling history

Though there were reports the weekend before, it was confirmed on Monday that Seth Rollins, the Kingslayer, will be the cover athlete for WWE 2K18. He’s undoubtedly one of the most recognizable faces in the company. It also helps that he might be one of the most overall talented superstars on the roster as well.

However, having a star like Rollins on the cover isn’t enough. The good people of 2K Sports are well aware of this, knowing that they have to brand and sell the game properly. And leading up to WWE RAW on Monday night, they were teasing a reveal of sorts with the hashtag “BLN1”.

On RAW, they revealed what that meant — Be Like No One — as they also showed fans the first trailer for WWE 2K18. As you’d expect, Rollins is featured in the trailer. It’s the situation, though, that makes it one of the best gaming trailers in quite a while.

It starts with a masked figure breaking into the WWE Archives in Stamford, CT. Once inside, he burns and breaks many artifacts and relics that are iconic in wrestling history. In essence, he’s destroying the history of WWE. As the figure stands outside looking at the flames and wake of his destruction, he reveals himself to be Rollins, smiling as the tagline shows on the screen.

In addition to the phenomenal trailer, though, fans also found out the release date for WWE 2K18. The latest title in the series will be released on Oct. 17 and is already available for pre-order. Let’s hope that the game can live up to the trailer — but that’s going to be a tall task.
