The Mist, the highly anticipated television adaptation of the Stephen King story, premieres on June 22. Here’s what you need to know to watch on TV and online.

Spike’s new show The Mist is based upon a terrifying story from the master of horror himself, Stephen King. Imagine a thick, foggy mist rolling in and enveloping an entire town, making it impossible to see anything out there. And there are things out there. Scary things.

Now the town must come together to survive, and that’s where the story begins.

Here is the official synopsis of the pilot episode of The Mist from Spike TV:

"“The Mist tells the story of a foreboding mist that arrives in one small town ushering in a terrifying new reality for its residents, putting their humanity to the test. What will people do to survive when blinded by fear?”"

The town disappears in the mist after a crime takes place that tears everyone apart. With the town’s residents in different places when it settles in, everyone is separated from each other, and that means that it’s either put differences aside and work through this crisis or suffer the consequences. At its core, The Mist is a story of survival in the midst of an apocalypse.

The movie version of The Mist is heralded as one of the creepiest movies around, mainly because of the way the movie ends. It’s one of those endings that you don’t see coming, and when it does, it leaves you speechless. The fascinating thing about the television adaptation is that there isn’t an ending in sight, which gives the audience a lot more time to explore what’s happening in this small town.
