Preacher returns for its second season with Jesse, Tulip and Cassidy embarking on a cross-country road trip to find God. Here’s how to watch the premiere.

When Preacher first aired on AMC, a lot of people didn’t know what to make of it. Fans of the comics may have been concerned that they’d have to tone down the violence for TV, but they didn’t. The result was one of the most gratuitously violent shows in television history, and one that still manages to be a dark comedy.

Populating a show with characters who can’t die and have superhuman abilities is naturally going to see a lot of blood shed. And while some people may have been turned off by it, Preacher developed a rabid fan base during its first season. Despite low ratings, it got renewed for a second season early on, perhaps because AMC’s executives liked what they saw.

Season 2 kicks off with a two-night premiere event. The show will move to Mondays in earnest after the second episode, but for now, they want to try and get in some extra viewers from Fear the Walking Dead. Hopefully, they can make fans out of anyone who was hate-watching Fear before suddenly being blown away by what they’re seeing.

Here’s the synopsis for “On the Road,” according to TV Guide:

"In the Season 2 premiere, Jesse, Tulip and Cassidy hit the road in search of God and quickly realize they’re being stalked by a killer cowboy from hell."

It goes without saying that this show’s not for the faint of heart. But if you can withstand the violence on The Walking Dead, chances are you can make it through Preacher, which, unlike TWD, has a great story.
