Kelly Olynyk showed some flashes of dominance in the Celtics’ postseason run this past season, but may be joining the free agency market soon.

Kelly Olynyk and his man bun became a massive part of the Boston Celtics’ lineup this past postseason, and a star was born when he put up big numbers against the Wizards in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference semifinals. Now, it looks like he may be taking his talents (and hair) elsewhere.

With the Celtics looking to sign Gordon Hayward, trade for Paul George, and potentially build up a true super team, big moves and decisions will have to be made to accommodate for the need for a ton of cap space. Enter Olynyk and his pending free agency.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, with the team looking to pull off their big offseason acquisitions, they may have to rid themselves of some of their key pieces from this past season. With Olynyk’s contract running out, the Celtics are reportedly likely to let go of the forward.

Obviously Celtics fans would understand if the team had to cut Olynyk out of their plans in order to make their bigger picture possible, and if they pull it off, they’re in serious contention to compete with the Golden State Warriors and potentially win a ring next year. If that were to happen, then it’d all be worth it.

Meanwhile, Olynyk will have quite the market out there to pursue, as plenty of teams will be looking to fill their respective needs for big men in their lineup. He proved that he can show sparks of dominance in some clutch moments, and would be a useful addition to any rotation.

No matter the circumstances, it’s guaranteed to be a sad day when the Celtics finally officially part ways with Kelly “The Clinic” Olynyk.
