The Houston Rockets agreed to trade for Chris Paul in exchange for some role players. LeBron James reacts to the Chris Paul move to Houston.

It was a bombshell on a Wednesday morning from Adrian Wojnarowski, who reported that the Houston Rockets have agreed to bring Chris Paul to Houston, in exchange for Patrick Beverley, Sam Dekker, Lou Williams and a 2018 first-round pick. This trade sent waves across the NBA, as a Harden-CP3 tandem could be exciting and competitive come May next year.

Chris Paul and LeBron James have a close friendship — as part of the Brotherhood between LeBron, CP3, Dwyane Wade and Carmelo Anthony. As soon as news broke that Paul is moving to Houston, LeBron sent out this tweet:

Could this signal another brother possibly joining the Houston Rockets? LeBron’s under contract and probably not going anywhere — at least until the summer of 2018. On the other hand, Dwyane Wade and Carmelo Anthony are both candidates to be bought out from their contracts.

In a situation like that, either Melo or D-Wade could head to H-Town to join forces with their banana boat buddy, Chris Paul. LeBron probably knew Paul’s intention long before anyone else did, as they share a close relationship from their days together in high school.

Also by the sound of the tweet, it seems like Paul is committed to staying in Houston for the long run and trying to make it work with Harden. If it was a one-year rental, I doubt LeBron would make a huge deal about it.

Nonetheless, NBA free agency hasn’t even begun and players are already on the move. The first being Jimmy Butler to strengthen Minnesota’s young core and now Chris Paul to Houston to make a formidable back court.

There will be more moves coming in the next few days, but teams are closing that gap on Golden State.
