Forbes Magazine released their annual Most Valuable Sports Teams for 2017. This year’s list features seven teams from Major League Baseball.

The list is out. It is the list of the Most Valuable Sports Teams according to Forbes Magazine. And, not surprising, the list is dominated by the National Football League. Twenty-eight of the teams in the NFL made the top 50, which is once again led by the Dallas Cowboys. They are evaluated at $4.2 billion, a five-percent growth rate from 2016.

However, last year seven teams from Major League Baseball ranked in the top 50. That number is eight for this year.

The highest rated team in all of baseball is, of course, the New York Yankees. With a growth of nine-percent over last year, the Yankees are not ranked second on the list, at $3.7 billion. They hurdled over soccer teams Manchester United ($3.69 billion) and Barcelona ($3.64 billion).

The Los Angeles Dodgers ($2.75 billion) moved from No. 14 to No. 13 with a 10 percent growth rate. Again, an MLB team jumped a soccer club, this time it was Bayern Munich ($2.71 billion).

Three more MLB teams made the list in the top 20, giving the league fives teams rated at that level. The Boston Red Sox ranked tied for 16th with the Chicago Bears with a value of $2.7 billion. With a second year in a row of 22 percent growth the Chicago Cubs jumped from No. 21 to No. 18, and are now valued at $2.68 billion. The San Francisco Giants are right behind them at No. 19, valued at $2.65 billion.

The Tennessee Titans made a significant jump from No. 49 in 2016 to No. 39 now. They are tied with the New York Mets at a $2 billion value. The St. Louis Cardinals ($1.8 billion) still grew, but dropped 10 spots to No. 47.

Rounding off the list are the Los Angels Angels of Anaheim, evaluated at $1.75 billion.
