Johnny Manziel is apparently talking to NFL teams, and here are five potential landing spots for him.

After a tumultuous and unsuccessful two years with the Cleveland Browns, Johnny Manziel did not play football last season. He was seen throwing back in February, and a possible comeback seemed centered on the CFL as the Hamilton Tiger-Cats hold his rights.

But not so fast. Manziel’s NFL career may not be over, as he told Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News he has had conversations with teams about getting back into the league.

"“I know the situation that I put myself in,” said Manziel. “I know the year I took off and obviously the mistakes that I made. Right now, I’m hopeful. I’m really hopeful. “I think that I made some progress in that regard. But we’ll see. Whenever I get a call, I’ll do whatever I can to make the most of it.”"

Manziel will turn 25 in December, so if he has a handle on (and can keep a handle on) his life off the field he may get another shot in the NFL. A starting job is not going to come immediately, if ever again, but these five teams should consider signing Manziel heading toward training camp.

5. Detroit Lions

After an injury-riddled start to his career, Matthew Stafford has started every game for six straight seasons. But behind him on the depth chart is the combined inexperience of 2016 sixth-round pick Jake Rudock and rookie Brad Kaaya, and a long-term injury to the former No. 1 overall pick would derail any hopes the Lions have to finish above .500, let alone make the playoffs.

Head coach Jim Caldwell is still without a contract beyond the coming season, and it may be playoffs or bust. Manziel has at least started an NFL regular season game, unlike Rudock and obviously Kaaya, and he would make things interesting if he had to play.
