This year’s highly touted crop of first round talent hit the ground running during NBA Summer League. After a bumpy first game, the Lonzo Ball hype machine kicked it into overdrive as Ball posted two triple-doubles and had the first 30-point, 10-assist game in Summer League history on his way to being named MVP. Jayson Tatum carried over his hot start from the Utah Summer League and has Celtics fans thinking they have the second coming of Paul Pierce. And despite giving everyone a scare with an ankle sprain, top pick Markelle Fultz has done nothing to dampen the enthusiasm of Sixers fans.

In addition to the players at the very top of the 2017 NBA Draft, later lottery picks Dennis Smith Jr., Donovan Mitchell and Bam Adebayo had exhilarating debuts as well, stoking fan excitement and opening debates about how they fell in the draft. So all these guys can’t really be that good, right? For which of them has the hype already gotten a little too far out of hand?

To help sift through the highlights and gaudy stats and answer that question, Sam Vecenie (@Sam_Vecenie) joins the latest episode of Fastbreak Breakfast. Sam covers the NBA, college basketball and the draft for Sporting News and Vice Sports and also hosts The Game Theory podcast. Which of these prospects is best? Has the top of his draft board changed after what he saw in Las Vegas? And who should we be most cautious about?
