ESPN will be getting a new member to the college football broadcast team and it’s none other than Tommy Tuberville

It’s that time of the year before the beginning of the college football season where we learn about some new faces in the broadcast booth. We were introduced to one on Wednesday, as ESPN will be adding former head coach Tommy Tuberville to the team.

In a press release issued on Wednesday, ESPN announced that the former Ole Miss, Auburn, Texas Tech and Cincinnati head coach will be joining the broadcast team this college football season as an analyst. At this time it’s not known who will be joining Tuberville in the booth during the ESPN broadcasts, but the network seems ecstatic about their new addition.

“Tommy has been a staple in college football for many years, having experienced nearly every situation as a head coach” said senior coordinating producer Lee Fitting in the release. “We want him to bring that experience to our telecast, informing fans on the dynamics of a head coach’s thought process, not only in a given moment but leading up to and following that moment.”

During his last stint as a head coach in college football, Tuberville spent four seasons at Cincinnati following an unceremonious exit from Texas Tech. He finished with a winning record of 29-22 with the Bearcats, but a 4-8 season in 2016 was enough for the school and he was shown the door last December 4.

Tuberville’s most successful outing as a head coach was the 10 seasons he spent leading the Auburn Tigers. In the decade leading the Tigers, he compiled a record of 85-40, which included the infamous 2004 season where the team went 13-0 and were denied the shot at a national championship.

Not being able to land another gig this offseason, Tuberville will now turn his attention to broadcasting, so it’s time for everyone to get ready to critique his performance in the booth this coming season.
