With training camp just around the corner, the New York Jets have finally reached agreement with first-round pick Jamal Adams.

The New York Jets may not be a whole lot of fun to watch this coming season. They are clearly a team in transition after getting rid of basically all of their veterans and pushing forward with a youth movement, two years after missing the playoffs by just one game.

One of their building blocks for the team moving forward is safety Jamal Adams out of LSU. Adams was one of the few draft picks that remained unsigned.

Until now.

Adams started 12 games at LSU last season, making 76 tackles with a sack and an interception.

The Jets now have all of their picks signed.

The remaining unsigned picks are Solomon Thomas, Corey Davis, Jabril Peppers and Gareon Conley, who are all first-round picks. Raiders second-round pick Obi Melifonwu is the only remaining non-first-round pick who is unsigned.

The Jets completely rebuilt their secondary this season. Guys like Darelle Revis and Calvin Pryor are gone. In are Adams and second-round pick Marcus Maye at safety, while Morris Claiborne was added to give depth at the cornerback position.

The New York Jets have to hope that their defensive line can cause enough problems for opposing quarterbacks, especially early on as the secondary begins to gel together. We’ve seen rookies have huge impacts, and the Jets hope Adams can help lead the secondary and become that cornerstone piece of their defense moving forward.

Getting him into training camp on time can only help that process.
