The summer transfer window is upon us and every team’s fans are dreaming of a big signing.

The biggest news this week was probably Chelsea’s £60 million deal to get Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid, finding their striker after Romelu Lukaku went to Manchester United. Plenty of other rumors are flying around, though, with a couple of big names involved at the moment.

Every week, FanSided will round up some of the most pie-in-the-sky gossip. Will it be Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Celtic? Paul Pogba back to Juventus? Ronaldinho out of retirement to play in MLS?

Here are the four dumbest transfer rumors of the week.

1. Neymar to PSG

This rumor has been at the center of the gossip whirlwind this week, with some outlets claiming that Paris Saint-Germain are willing to pay his £196 million release clause to pry him away from Barcelona. Everything about this seems to be moving much too quickly to be true, though.

The 25-year-old Brazilian is one of the best attacking players in the world, which is why his price tag is so steep. The rumored transfer fee would absolutely smash the world record — it’s more than double what United paid for Paul Pogba last year (a measly £89 million).

This situation smells strongly of posturing for a new contract. All the “drama,” with Neymar apparently not responding to questions about the situation, feels pretty fabricated. One thing that’s been mentioned is his control over his own publicity rights, so maybe that’s something he wants from Barca.
