The New York Yankees are really being aggressive this trade season, as they apparently inquired about Giancarlo Stanton.

The New York Yankees are in a tight race with the Boston Red Sox in the AL East, which of course has had them quite aggressive in the trade market this year. It’s a stark contrast from last season when the Yankees were sellers, trying to get the rebuild going. Just how aggressive are they being? Well, they apparently had some thoughts about adding a big bat in the form of Giancarlo Stanton.

According to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports, the Yankees recently made a call to the Marlins about the availability of Stanton and his massive contract. As we all know, Stanton signed a 13-year, $325 million deal with the Miami franchise, with a lot of money still left on the contract; $295 million being “a lot,” to be exact.

With everything the Marlins are going through right now, they’d probably love to get that deal off the books and the Yankees are one of the few teams who could take it on without batting an eye. Right now, most anti-Yankees fans are having their stomachs turned with the thought of a lineup that includes Stanton, rookie phenom Aaron Judge and young, power-hitting catcher Gary Sanchez. The Yankees would have one of the most formidable lineups in all of baseball, which is not a good thought for most out there.

However, the fact remains that while some within the Yankees organization would love to add Stanton and his power bat to the lineup, their main focus right now in regards to taking back the AL East is starting pitching. That’s reportedly been their primary focus, and with good reason.

Still, it’s something to keep an eye on with the trade deadline looming that the Yankees at least entertained the idea of bringing Stanton into the fold. There’s still time for Brian Cashman to stun the baseball world.
