Tim Duncan kickboxing is the coolest thing you’d never thought you’d see.

Get ready fight fans because ‘The Punisher’ Tim Duncan will soon be making his Octagon debut.

Alright, it’s probably too soon to go that far, but the San Antonio Spurs legend is practicing Muay Thai just in case anyone tries to tell him Kevin Garnett was better.

Oddsmakers have Duncan as a -250 favorite over UFC fighter CM Punk after seeing this video. Scott Coker is already on the phone with Duncan’s agent to bring him to Bellator.

It shouldn’t be surprising that Duncan looks smooth and not at all awkward as a kickboxer, but it is. The most surprising part is that the future basketball Hall-of-Famer looks like he’s comfortable and having fun. Do the Spurs de-program players and allow them to be normal humans with emotions when they retire?

I know it’s a light sparring video, but Duncan uses his reach well against a much smaller man, puts together three to four strike combos and finishes with kicks, and backs away nicely while keeping his hands up. He could have checked the leg kick better and he shouldn’t throw spinning techniques, but otherwise I was impressed. Next time, I’d like to see his clinch game. He could do some Anderson Silva-like damage with his frame if he’s able to grab a hold of opponents.

Who had “kickboxing” as a hobby for Tim Duncan once he retired? I had playing chess and reading books at the top of my list. Kickboxing was below cutting hair and being a Dungeons & Dragons master, but just ahead of performing stand up comedy.

Let’s go ahead and fuel those comeback rumors based on this video. Duncan still has the desire to compete and looks to be in great shape. I’d be pretty worried about my starting spot if I were LaMarcus Aldridge.
