The Texas A&M Aggies finished the 2018 season strong and will look to carry that momentum into 2019 as they take on a grueling schedule.

Good not great has been the theme around the Texas A&M Aggies for most of their SEC history.

Since joining the conference back in 2012, the Aggies have only had one season where they finished with double-digit wins which came that first season. Multiple 8-5 records, a couple of 9-4s and one 7-6 finish have been their fate since that first magical Johnny Manziel season. Now as they head in 2019, Jimbo Fisher and his crew will look to finally take that next step and enter that next tier within the SEC.

It will start with the offense because despite losing Trayveon Williams and Jace Sternberger, the Aggies return a good amount of production. Kellen Mond is still leading things at quarterback with a stacked receiver group and experienced offensive line. So if a player like Jashaun Corbin can keep things going at running back, this offense has a chance to be very good.

The defense is where things could get a little tricky. Six out of the seven starters on the front seven need to be replaced from a unit that ranked top 20 against the run in 2018 according to defensive S&P+. The secondary is more stable as everyone who started the bowl game is returning, but the pass defense was just middle of the road.

Nothing will be given to this team as they have what is arguably the toughest schedule in college football.

So let’s look at it game by game and see if the Aggies will be a serious threat in 2019.
