Expectations are high in the city of Cleveland. The Browns are primed for a big 2019, but who are the five players that need to be great for them to succeed?

The Cleveland Browns hired John Dorsey to be the team’s general manager in December of 2017. As was the case for many years before that, the Browns fielded a poor team and the fans were left hopeless.

Dorsey came in and wasted no time. He was the architect to one of the more drastic roster turnovers the NFL has seen in recent years. He inherited a team that would win one football game in two full seasons and he molded them into a rising franchise.

In the draft, Baker Mayfield was taken first overall, Denzel Ward went a few picks later at four, and Nick Chubb was selected in the second round. Jarvis Landry was traded for to be the team’s number-one receiver, and Dorsey set the Browns up well for 2018.

Mayfield was fantastic and took the starting job from Tyrod Taylor, Ward was named to the Pro Bowl, Myles Garrett had 13.5 sacks and anchored the defensive line, and the Browns went 7-8-1. Hue Jackson was let go during the season and replaced by interim head coach Gregg Williams, who has since been replaced by Freddie Kitchens.

Dorsey was even more aggressive this offseason. He traded for Odell Beckham Jr. and Olivier Vernon, signed Sheldon Richardson and nabbed Greedy Williams in the draft. Now, the Browns are must-watch television. However, the team will need these five players to be great to contend in 2019.
