LSU football head coach Brian Kelly spoke at a Tigers basketball game the day he had his introductory press conference but his accent definitely changed.

Brian Kelly’s abrupt departure from Notre Dame (four-minute speech to his former team included) has not made many outside of the LSU football landscape that happy with the new Tigers head coach.

Thus, any opportunity to roast Kelly would be a gift to social media sent from above. And on Wednesday night while making an appearance at a Tigers basketball game, he gave the roasters the ammo they needed.

Coming out onto the court, Kelly donned a purple suit in trying to endear himself to LSU fans. But that wasn’t why he’s being roasted — instead, it was for the fact that he, for some unknown reason, seemingly faked (or adopted, if you want a kinder term) an unnatural southern accent during his speech.

Where is Brian Kelly from?

In case you were curious, there is zero chance Brian Kelly has a southern accent naturally. He was born and raised in Massachusetts, has coached in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana, and has been in Louisiana for roughly three days at this point.

This is all to say, that was far from what his natural accent would be.

College football media roasts LSU football coach Brian Kelly for fake accent

As they are wont to do, college football media had a field day roasting the new LSU football coach for his accent.

Frankly, he deserves to be roasted for this. It’s one thing to try and fit in with the Baton Rouge crowd and engrain yourself in the LSU culture.

It’s another thing for a new coach from the northeast who is already not held in the highest opinion by man to come in and start trying to act like he has a southern accent.
