NFL Commisionner Roger Goodell recently hinted that the NFL Draft could be hosted by cities other than New York City. It would rotate like the Super Bowl, to cities that bid essentially. And at least one NFL owner is coming out and volunteering to host the draft.

“Sure, I’d like to see the draft move around (to other cities), and I would love to see it come to Pittsburgh some time,” Steelers President Art Rooney II said Wednesday on the Steelers’ official website. “It’s a great event and attracts tremendous fan interest. It would be a fun event for Pittsburgh to host, and I think our city could do a great job with it.”

The Rooney Family is one of the most influential in all of the NFL and they’re close to Goodell as well.

As of right now there are no details on where the NFL Draft might move to after 2014. It has been suggested that multiple cities could host the draft in the same year. Each hosting different rounds of the festivities.

Pittsburgh from an NFL standpoint makes sense. There is a die hard football fan base in Pittsburgh and they certainly would show up to support an NFL event like this.
