The Detroit Pistons continue to suggest they will not trade Greg Monroe.

But given his restricted free agent status, it’s hard to believe they won’t at least listen to potential offers. Knowing that, the Charlotte Bobcats have reportedly began kicking the tires on a Greg Monroe trade, this according to Basketball Insiders.

The Charlotte Bobcats are somewhat aggressive in kicking the tires. They like Philadelphia’s Evan Turner and they have been kicking around the Detroit Pistons on Greg Monroe.

While we’ve known about Charlotte’s interest in Evan Turner, the news on Greg Monroe is new.

The Bobcats aren’t exactly in need of a player like Monroe (in comparison to a guard/wing), but it’s hard to pass up such a talent if made available. Of course, it’s questionable if Charlotte would have anything the Pistons need. Yes, they have the expiring contract of Ben Gordon but that’s of little interest to the Pistons (unless Detroit wants to move Josh Smith‘s contract). In addition, the Bobcats do have a few draft picks, but they’d likely need to include a young talent (like Michael Kidd-Gilchrist) in addition to a pick to make it intriguing for the Pistons.
