Josh Hamilton on return from injury: ‘It was good, man’

The Los Angeles Angels received good news on Monday as Josh Hamilton was able to return to the lineup after missing time with a strained left calf.

Serving as the designated hitter for the game, Hamilton went 1-3 with a run scored. When asked about how his return went, Hamilton said that everything felt good. From MLB.com:

It was good, man. It felt good just to get on the base, steal, and then do things that you’re supposed to do as a player on the field. It was good overall.”

When he was fully healthy and able to play at full strength Hamilton was a singular talent. His combination of power, speed, and athleticism was like nothing else. Unfortunately this string of injuries in recent years means that Hamilton has to pick and choose his battles.

The focus for him and the Angels will be getting him fully healthy for the start of the season and hoping that he finds his timing at the plate. Any other aspect of his game is secondary, at least for the time being.
