NFL Draft 2014 results: Top three SEC QBs taken Saturday; AJ McCarron lands with Bengals
By Jack Crosby
Aaron Murray, 163rd overall, Kansas City Chiefs
From a purely statistical perspective, Murray is the most accomplished of the bunch. Murray started since he was a freshman in Athens, and when all was said and done in his career, he became the SEC’s all-time leading passer with 13,166 yards and 121 touchdowns to just 41 interceptions.
Part of the reason the 6’1″ 210-pound Murray fell was a combination of teams being scared off by his lack of size, questions about his arm strength and the torn ACL he suffered at the end of last season against Kentucky which effectively ended his illustrious career.
However, his rehab process has been coming along better than most expected, and with Alex Smith and Chase Daniel in front of him in Kansas City, he will have not only more time to get that knee in shape, but also progress his overall game under one of the best in Andy Reid.
