Production wraps on Terminator sequel, officially titled Terminator Genisys
There is still a little under a year before the latest installment in the Terminator saga opens in theaters nationwide; however, for the members of the cast it’s a wrap.
Arnold Schwarzenegger announced earlier this morning that production on the upcoming film, which is now officially titled Terminator Genisys, has completed filming and will be heading into post production in order to get the film ready for its July 2015 release date.
The original post, which was made to Schwarzenegger’s official Facebook Page, thanked everyone who worked so tirelessly on the film and promised fans that the new film would “remind the fans why they fell in love with the Terminator.”
Here is a look at Schwarzenegger’s statement in its entirety.
“Hasta la vista, baby.
I want to thank the cast and crew of Terminator Genisys for a fantastic shoot. It was challenging, it was fun, and it was rewarding. From our director to the producers, from the camera team to catering, from visual effects to hair and makeup – we couldn’t have done it without you. I can’t wait to see our finished project and I know we’ll remind the fans why they fell in love with the Terminator. On July 1, 2015, I’ll be back.”
Terminator Genisys is being directed by Alan Taylor. Taylor has plenty of accomplishments under his belt, having directed Thor: The Dark World for Marvel Entertainment and numerous episode of the hit series Game of Thrones for HBO.
The screenplay for the upcoming sequel is being written by screenwriters Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier based off of characters created by James Cameron and Gale Anne Hurd.
The film stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, who is reprising his iconic role of The Terminator. Joining him is Game of Thrones actress Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor and Jason Clarke, no relation, as John Connor. Terminator Genisys also stars Jai Courtney, Matt Smith, J.K. Simmons, Courtney B. Vance, Aaron V. Williamson, and many more.
Terminator Genisys is scheduled to be released on July 1, 2015.
